The announcement text:
Sell-side broker-dealer is looking to immediately fill a PT [or consultant] entry level position as a Jr. Desktop Support Tech Help Desk Analyst under the IT dept. (~ 20 hoursweek- negotiable) for sales & trading desk support. Great learning opportunity to support dynamic, financial trading floor environment.



Candidate must be self-motivated and possess initiative to assist with maintenance of the IT infrastructure.



Candidate will be responsible for sales and trading desk on-site support where main focus is to help staff with daily trading activities. The role requires knowledge of Windows administration (2000XP) and general overall knowledge of the Windows environment, understanding of TCPIP and Microsoft Networking, MS Outlook, experience with troubleshooting network & standalone multifunction printers, MS Office and smartphones such as Blackberries & iPhones. A strong candidate must have the ability to troubleshoot basic hardware and OS platform issues where experience in MS Windows 2000XPVista and buildingrepairing all components of a PC is essential in a fast-paced environment. Ability to multi-task, prioritize, perform under pressure and willingness to work flexible hours within 7am to 6pm (when appropriate) is expected (average work day: 4 hrsday).



Candidate will be working alongside IT manager; [sic] the right candidate for this role must have strong communication (verbal & written) skills as well as exhibit strong project planning and organizational abilities.



REQUIREMENTS:

- Minimum 1 year of hands-on knowledge of:

* Desktop OS: Windows 9x to Win XPVista

* Applications (general): Microsoft Office

* Hardware: PC desktoplaptop, printers, peripherals including smartphones (e.g. Blackberry and iPhone)

* Server OS: Windows 2000 - Windows Server 2003

* Network: knowledge of TCPIP

- Minimum 1 year of desktop support



PLUSES:

Certifications: A+ Network+ CCNA

Network: Cisco firewallrouterswitch configuration experience

VoIP: familiarity with IPC, Speakerbus and Avaya VoIP

Application (trading): EMSOMS platform and Bloomberg experience

Application (MS Office): VBA

Scripting: (Perl, VBScript, Python, PHP)

Experience: Trade floor experience

Desktop OS: Linux, MacOS

Server OS: Active Directory, Linux

Misc:

- FIX knowledge

- Disaster Recovery experience including backup software

- Systems monitoring, management & auditing tools (e.g. WhatsUpGold, SolarWinds, Spiceworks)

- Disaster Recovery experience



RESPONSIBILITIES:



- Assist in procuringprovisioningconfiguringmaintainingtroubleshooting company`s IT serverclient hardware & software including: users` workstationdesktoplaptop, MFC printers, VoIP server and phone system and smartphones (systems Support Infrastructure systems, applications andor devices )

- Assist configuringmaintainingtroubleshooting the office LAN (wiredwireless) including support for network printing and network storage

- Provide on-going desktop support for 20+ computers autonomously

- Trouble tracking and reporting - document support incident into firm`s trouble ticketing system

- Quality Monitoring and Assurance

- Assist with taskissue prioritization

- Assist with installationconfigurationmaintenance of serverclient hardware & software

- Assist with equipment documentation and inventory control including maintenance and record keeping of VoIP phone switches, PBX upgrademaintenance, phone extension recordkeeping, end-user voicemail problems, and recordkeeping of PCmonitor inventory.

- Assist with troubleshooting outagesinterruption of hosted services

- Assist system backup and restore procedures

- Assist with audio and video equipment maintenance
